Hello,  just a note here to say you I started this webcomic "Pepper&Carrot" because of a dailydeviation I received here , on what is now 'the first episode' :
Potion of flight by Deevad
You left me with 7000 notifications , 200 cool comments ... and I still don't know how to manage my profile  ...
You are wonderful !  Without this initial energy, I doubt I would start this project that's now a big part of my life. Thanks !

Chaos and Evolution - 1h30 of open tutorials

Journal Entry: Fri May 31, 2013, 2:04 AM

On my recent 'move cleaning' , I decided to release my full Chaos&Evolutions DVD to the public for free on Youtube. So, to not post every chapter separated, I remixed all the main lessons into a 1h30 epic-to-render HD video ( in Kdenlive ). I also did cut, merge, etc...  The tool used ( Gimp-painter 2.6 ) on the video is outdated , but the core course is still ok and the DVD wasn't about the tool anyway. Any digital painting software ( Krita, Mypaint, SAI, Photoshop , etc... )  should work for it. Those basic and simple lessons will feet beginners in research of more self discipline and a structured workflow about the act of painting using layers and digital tools as a global concept.  For more advanced user ; the content might be too simplistic and I'm ready to receive rants about it too. Maybe one day I'll do a Chaos&Evolutions² for advanced hard-core technics and skill , but only when my technic will be more more advanced, I still work on it   >:-)

More infos, full dynamic menu on the video description ( under the video )  on the Youtube video page . Feel free to share and comment.
Thanks to all who purchased by the past the real DVD & thanks for watching ( and obviously , thx Youtube for hosting this 1h30 HD file ).

Hey David, as a fellow Linux user I thought you might be interested in the possibility of Black Ink on Linux. I asked, and it seems that if there will be any demand for it the developers will port it to Linux some time after the mac version (so if we'll see it we can probably expect to see it around late 2015 or early 2016 :meow:)

If you didn't already know about it, it's a one of a kind new art program, it's powered mostly by the GPU rather than CPU and as a side effect of that it also has access to the VRAM (Graphics Card memory, GDDR instead of DDR, it's basically just ridiculously much faster than normal RAM, and one of the main reasons why graphics cards are so damn expensive) since you're into Blender at least a little I imagine you know what this all can mean. It basically outclasses every existing art program out there both in performance and feasible working resolutions for images.

But what really sets it apart is that it's unique brush engine, they're trying to take digital painting to the next level by creating a brush engine that doesn't try to emlulate any traditional mediums (stuff like Krita's particle brush and hatching brush for example, but not slow at large resolutions) I imagine they used some advanced procedural generation formulas for it so you can create top performance complicated brushes with ease.

It's probably a good tool to have if we can get it on Linux La la la la I have it on windows, although I haven't had the chance to properly play with it yet.. hmm maybe I'll do that today.

I just saw that you are participating in project Gooseberry! Yes! Yes! Yes!

Oh, um, is there a Patreon page for Gooseberry?
Deevad Featured By Owner Aug 25, 2014  Professional Digital Artist
Hey :) Yes, I'm working on Gooseberry. No Patreon or Kickstart for the project , the 'Blender Cloud' service is the first source of income for the project I think.
